DEEP FARM: Capacity building for digital agriculture in HEIs in third countries

Contract Number

SEP-210918042

Description

DEEP FARM specifically addresses the skills gap existing in four E+ third countries not associated
to the program (referred as “third countries” from now onwards) and will work to reinforce the
knowledge and capacity of students in agriculture degrees with new tools in AI and Big Data to
face the challenges in modern agriculture in a “learning by doing approach” to support the Green
Deal.

The project aims to:

  • Improve the quality of higher education in Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Haiti and Dominican
Republic with an attractive training offer for agronomist and computer science graduates (at
bachelor and/or master level) to enhance its relevance for the labor market and society by
introducing innovative elements in the existing curricula with a flexible approach of online
MOOCs in AI & Big data that are trending technologies with huge potential for a continuous and
flexible eLearning in agriculture applications. The focus will be mainly for digital knowledge for
agricultural application in support of Green Deal.
  • Improve the level of competences, skills and employability potential of students and professors
in the involved HEIs in the third countries with new and innovative education programmes.
The students will be better prepared for starting their careers in IT companies around the
agricultural sector. With GRADEOS filling the traditional gap between universities and the
economy and a learning by doing approach, a practical training (with real use cases) will favor
    the employability of students.
  •  Enhance digitalisation and internationalization
  • Stimulate cooperation of institutions, capacity building and exchange of good practice
  • Encourage international mobility of students and professors.
